The Strength of Water Jets

Water jet cutting is a deceptively simple machining method with capabilities that rival those of laser cutting and electrical discharge machining (EDM). Combining a high pressure stream of water with an abrasive allows for the cutting of hard materials such as steel quickly, and with no heat-affected zone. The strengths of a water jet cutter do not overlap with those of EDM, and the two machining methods complement each other quite well. Using EDM for cutting at depth and precision machining, and water jet cutting for everything else results in faster turnaround and a lower cost.
